We grilled some lovely mackerel fillets on Sunday, and the house still smells of fish.
I have used aerosols and have just put half a lemon into boiling water as suggested somewhere, but that just went to mush!!
Is there any thing else that I can do??
Thanks in advance
Sharon

you could try making up a spray bottle with some bicarb and hot water and spray everywhere with that it should help neutralise some of the odour also open your windows and let some air blast through the house if you can0

Candles work well for cigarette smoke, not sure why but they do
Maybe lighting some may help ?"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."

Or just found this advice ?
May be worth a try ?
After preparing and cooking fish there can be a lingering smell. To get rid of it from your kitchen leave a bowl of vinegar in the room overnight and the smell will disappear.
If you need to get rid of the smell quickly, perhaps if you are having a dinner party, then try heating the bowl of vinegar. The easiest way to do this is to place the bowl over a bowling pan of water and turn off the heat"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."

I susect you might need to buy a commercial odor eating spray, but I would consider putting cinnamon sticks, cloves, some orange rinds into a couple of pints of water and boil on a fairly a low heat for several hours.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Prices Chefs Candles (only found them at Lakeland but sure they're available elsewhere probably for cheaper) - expensive but last for ages as you only need to burn them for short periods. They don't leave a masking smell - just get rid of the food one inc fish. I get the tealights too.0

Never heard of them but shall seek some out
Thanks"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."

My mum always lights up a candle in the kitchen to help eliminate smells...It doesn't have to be a scented candle, but for some unknown reason, it works...Sealed Pot Challenge 2012 #1502:)

Hope your mackerel was fresh! I cook fish three or four times a week so never have the problem of lingering smells, my smells are always quickly replaced by new ones.
Quick tip; learn to live with it and forget the aerosols they are just so bad for you0
