PURCHASED annuity

Well what do you think? 100k say. Joint life. Wife 58 husband 59

escalating or not? I have no idea of rates at this age but is it not a good idea to safeguard some income from the tax free cash element of the pension pot?

What a quandry!!

If you are thinking of an annuity why don't you just not take the lump sum and increase your pension that way?

Everyones circumstances are different, you don't say what your's are. But once you buy an annuity you will never see your capital again.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Leave it till you older, keep it in reserve earning interest in case you need it for a care home. They have special "immediate needs" annuities for people going into care which are paid direct to the home and not taxed - quite a good deal.

Takes all the worry away for the other partner and the kids.
    Trying to keep it simple...;)

Is this a pension annuity or do you have £100k in savings outside of a pension that you are considering buying an annuity with?

The obvious "witty" retort to that is "Hope you don't live too long then." but that really doesn't sound right...... ;):)
