House Call Cycle Repairers?

Is there such a thing as an on-call cycle repairer?
What's happened is this.
I sold my car recently and life ain't the same when you don't have your own mode of transport, so I thought, why not borrow my uncle's bicyle he had set up for his children seeing as his children have showed no interest in using it.
Here was the catch, and I did see it coming, the bike may not be 100% stable.
Indeed from the time I went to his place I had to tighten nuts and bolts here and there and hell even inflate the tyres. My place to his was 10 miles and I ain't no experienced cyclist - and in the night at that.
I got home in one piece.
But the brakes have given me something to worry about.
Dual suspension bike and the brake pads rely heavily on needing to lean on the bike frame for support.
No brakes on either front or rear mean I cannot cycle to my nearest dealer for a potential repair where I am trying to look for a car to buy with work getting in my way.
So, I live in the north of London somewhere.
Anybody know of mobile cycle repairers?
or even better still!!!
a place where I can buy a brand new mountain bike, 26" frame ideally, fully assembled brand new for £50 - £60?
My uncle's bike is only 19" frame - I know this cos I sought a cycle shop advice when buying a seat height extender.
I know about sterlinghouse. I have even been top their showroom when I had my car.
Those were my questions...

If I fail to thank you individually, I am sorry. Your advice was appreciated but may not have been 100% the result I was after.
