Stamp Prices Increase not until 6 April

If I am posting this to the wrong area please remove - and if it has already been mentioned please accept my apologies!

In Martin's email he mentions that stamp prices have gone up today (ie 1 April). They do not actually go up until 6 April - so you have a few extra days to stock up!

Do stamps that only have '1st' printed on them last virtually forever? I've just come across a number of old 1st class ones that have 'LOVE' printed on them. I'm assuming they are still ok to use?

I am not sure what (if) the cut off point is (certainly years), but I believe that as long as they show the 1st or 2nd class motif on the stamp and they are unused then they can be used as a 1st or 2nd class stamp at the current rate.

Have just looked on the web and see that these stamps were issued for the Valentine period in 2007 and so will definitely be okay to use!

I thought the increase was the 6th too. Was well annoyed when I'd read the email saying it was today as the queue in the Post Office yesterday was too giant for me to waste my lunch break in, so thought I'd try another one tomorrow!
