White / Ivory napkins - hire?

Hey,

The venue where we are having our reception have burgundy napkins only, and I'm after ivory or white. I'd really like linen and I know i can hire them no problem for another company BUT with an additional cost of £1 per mile for dropping off / collecting (talking an extra £25 here!!)

Any suggestions?
Think its cheeky to approach another venue nearby to see if i can hire from them? I don't want to have to worry about dropping them back off either. What do you think?

Could you ask the people at the venue to organise this for you, ie they hire them, and transport them to and from and recharge you on your bill.
(but ask them how much first) lol
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

It's not a wedding venue as such - its our favourite italian restaurant which we're taking over for the day! They just have their own burgundy napkins which they look after themselves, and dont have one of those contract deals with a linen service.
I'll ask them if they can hire them in, but it sounds pricey already!! Might just have to have paper ones...

Really good quality paper ones can be just as nice. Think of all the washing powder, water, electicity youre saving the world. (as long as they recycle the paper ones.;) Hope everything goes well on the day.

i ordered pink and burgundy napkins from special occasion linen as our venue only has white and thought it would add a splash of colour (long tables so not doing centrepieces)... it cost about 70p each but the Delivery charge and VAT do add up to quite a lot. Didn't mind too much as was considering the cost of napkins a replacement for the cost I'd budgeted originally for centrepieces/ table decs..
BUT... Went to a wedding on saturday and they had some really nice disposable ones, most people didn't even notice they were paper, they were really thick, and you could do the standard napkin origami with them as you could with fabric ones!

Anyway so now I am going to look into them and maybe cancel the hire. hmmmmm.....

Hi, just wanted to add to my previous post, I've just ordered a sample from bluejigsaw.com for the "dunilin" napkins - they are paper but "linen-like". Would be £25 instead of £170 for our 150 napkins; although I'll have to pay a 10% cancellation fee for the fabric ones I already ordered; small price to pay.
I was worried what my Mum would think (you know what mums can be like sometime!) but just emailed her and she thinks it's a great idea! hopefully one of the colours will suit. fingers crossed.

I think you probably underestimate your mum, she would probably be proud of you having some common financial sense. I know i would be if you saved that amount of money.

Have you thought about trying somewhere like ikea, dunelm mill or matalan - might be able to buy for cheaper than the cost of hiring.
