HMRC post judgement interest

Does anyone have any thoughts or advice on the matter of HMRC charging post judgement interest after a county court tax arrears judgement?
Specifically, I believe that HMRC is charging me interest on the judgement amount in a tax arrears action against me.
My understanding is that HMRC reserve the right to charge post judgement interest, but must apply to the court in a seperate action if they actually intend to charge the interest. i.e. HMRC cannot just charge post judgement interest without any legal process to do so.
Thanks for any opinions or advice.

They should include the interest to date in the CC claim .... and claim judgement on the tax + interest. They would not normally seek to increase the interest from that point.
Their guidance here ..... but there is a Freedom of Information exemption at a potentially crucial part of your question :

..... paying them tends to resolve the issue? If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
