Can I apply again?

Options
Hi Guys,

We're in the process of applying for a mortgage now that we've had an offer accepted on a property.

We went to see an independent broker who put an application in to a lender for us which has been turned down due to affordability. :(

However we had previously approached the same lender before we saw the broker and they had agreed the mortgage in principal - albeit at a lower amount.

My question is whether or not I can now go back to the lender and apply for a mortgage with them directly at the lower rate that had previously been agreed?

Thanks for any help

Cheers

Neil

    I can't see why not tbh:confused:

It's a new product you're looking at and a new amount so they'll need to look at your case again anyway.;)
  • The Broker's best was not good enough in your case. "End of". You may do better for yourself.

I think you will be wasting your time.

The mortgage was agreed by the lender at a lower amount, when you went to the broker you asked for more and failed their affordability criteria.

Unless you can buy the house with the smaller loan that you asked for originally then you are wasting your time.

    Good Luck with it

Agreements in principle don't mean much and it will more than likely be the fact that you've increased the amount you're asking for rather than the fact that you've used a broker that has scuppered you with this lender.

Does the broker think he could get you a deal with another lender or not?
