A few questions

Firstly today is the first time (I think) I have ever not spent anything. The urge to go to the cafe to buy a bag of crisps or to buy something / anything was huge but I've done it, I'm sitting here at 9pm and I've done it. I've not spent a penny today and it feels fantastic.

I've also applied for about 12 jobs today, registering with over 8 agencies.

I've got some questions.....

I am still working out my budget but thank you so much for all the help about cutting back and stopping tv packages, cutting down phone bills, it looks likely we'll still be able to meet all the minimum payments is there any benefits from contacting the card companies and telling them we're struggling?

We're also after a 0% card but it can't be MBNA or Egg, any ideas? One of the cards finishes the 0% and has gone up to 18%! If we contacted them would they stop the intrest?

Has anyone's relationship suffered with the debt problems? We've been married 12yrs but we're really struggling and not getting on at the moment and I think a lot of it is about the money. We're both so preoccupied and I'm rather angry with him (he secretly was taking money out credit cards 3 years ago and it's snow balled from there to the point where he was lying to me.

As always, thanks for the help.

Well done on your NSD.... and fantastic news on all the agency sign ups - keep going... I am looking for a new job too so know what that's like. I finished today...

    Try Virgin for the 0%

With regard to your debt - and your relationship - I sympathise with your anger and frustration but you need to consider what means more to you - your relationship or the money...? Has he learned his lesson? Is he sorry? Is he prepared to work with you now to put it right? Think about those things...

Sometimes it is my OH that is at fault over money - as often or more tho it has been me... at this point it doesn't matter... What matters is we are working together to resolve the problem...

    good luck...

Depending on how nice the companies are.... for example: studio catalogue stopped the interest, charges and accepted 50p a month whilst I was on job seekers. As did capital one, however natwest and blackhorse weren't as nice and have passed my accounts straight onto debt collectors....
Worth asking though and you should be able to arrange reduced payments for a while if you send soa's.
Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!
