I have both, I don't shop in Sainsbury's very often but my OH gets petrol there often (it's on the way, unfortunately (for the double points!) Tesco's isn't!).
As for which "works out best", they are very different and obviously used at different places. Nectar do have a section on their website where you click through to various online shops and gain points when you shop there, but you do have to watch that they remember to add them.
In fact, I think I have all the loyalty cards for the places I shop at.
What is the point of turning down points even if you do take years to run up enough to get any benefit?
I say get every loyalty card you can, loyalty is a bit of a misnomer! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
you have done well!!!:j
nice one,thanks.0 -
Wouldn't it be prudent to work out which supermarket is cheaper for your shopping habits first and then maybe factor in the 2 card schemes into the calculation after?Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
It is worth having both, but I find the Tesco Clubcard much better than Nectar.
I have got from Tesco in total, free 3 courses meals out to La Tasca, Bella Italia, Pizza Express etc, free dry cleaning, 2 free days out, £120 Goldsmith vouchers, and a free years magazines subscription.
From Nectar I got £2.50 off Argos once.
The nearest Sainsburys is 35 minutes away so only makes sense for me to shop their occasionally. However even if I was shopping there, there is much more choice for Tesco Clubcard and you get more for your points. No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!
Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T0 -

Me too!!!:T
Just check out my signature:rotfl:
And that is not all. I also have Boots (but shop only for things on offer there) and others...
Once you have them all, you always pick up one points or another0 -
Don't forget it's not just Sainsburys that does nectar, and then the points really can add up. I add BP, Viking Direct, Amazon, ebay, meals out etc...
I use every loyalty card going, as I don't want to waste any freebies - but I buy where would have bought anyway.
Last year we used nectar for days out at Thorpe Park etc..
You can also go through quidco on some sites first (Viking Direct) so points and cashback

I shop at Sainsbo's so I am biased!
I collect for petrol, food, use my american express and collect via the internet and just let the points add up, last Christmas I barely spent any money on Christmas food .
I do get Tesco's points but as they send them too me I also then use them immediately never save them and they hardly seem to mount up.
Nectar all the way for me.0 -

Nectar all the way for me.
For every £5 in Tesco point you get £20 at Pizza express and others...
Definitely worth saving up.
Nectar's points are only worth half of what Tesco's are, and that is before special deals, but they are still worth collecting. especially if you preffer to shop there... I also save up my points and then spend them all at Christmas!:rotfl:0
