Credit Report - Advice please!

I still have just over 2 years to run on a joint loan between me and my ex partner totalling around 10k.
I have a feeling that my ex partner is falling behind on her credit card payments and therefore affecting her credit rating.
I currently have a balance of just over £5k on my credit card which I am ploughing as much money as possible into each month to reduce.
Should I carry on with this and try and tackle my credit card debt. Once this has reduced look at refinancing the remainder of the loan into just my name? Or do you think it would be best to try and refinance the loan now even given my credit card balance and current economic climate and get her association with me removed from my credit file ASAP.
Just how much damage can she do to my rating while we are still associated? Is it just a case of once she has been removed there will be no trace of any problems?
Any advice gratefully appreciated?
