Store card problem

I was told that if i signed up for an Adams store card I could get the clothes that I was purchasing cheaper. Not having alot of money at the time, I thought "why not?". This was my first mistake. I got the card just before Christmas and could not afford to pay anything off until late January. I paid off what I owed in full and told them that I wanted to cancel the account. I was told that I would have to wait 3 days for the money to clear before I could cancel it. 3 days later I recieved a letter stating I owed another £5. Why should I owe this? I didnt pay it and now owe more. I need advice. I dont think it is fair to charge me interest on money that I don't and shouldn't owe. Is there anything I can do?

You might owe it because the account would have accumulated interest from the time that you paid the account off to when they received the money. Ask them if that is what they have done?

Store cards are evil because their interest rate is always far higher and anyway you can buy very good nearly new and sometimes brand new clothes from charity shops for less money than you would buying them on a store card.
  • Interest or a late payment fee?

The interest and APR on these cards is normally very high - only really worth it if they give you a good discount and if you pay it off in full each month.
Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!
