washing machine insurance - am i daft or what?

my machine insurance ran out at beginning of feb and i didnt renew it - then my machine broke - obviously i was annoyed as i wasnt covered.....

then, i decided to rent one which is due to come tomorrow at £4 a week.....

but, i have had through the post a 'your parts cover has now expired' letter and offer to renew it for £76.80 - but, stupid me phoned up and asked if they knew the exact date it expired because the machine has broke - will they have made a note now that the machine has broke and am i too late to take this offer up which means i will be covered again from tomorrows date if i do it online? how long would it take to get it repaired usually?

or should i cut my losses and just chuck it and rent the one at £4 a week - have been nearly 4 weeks without one now and the thougt of having one tomorrow is joyful but can last another couple of weeks if im sure i could definitely get this one fixed or replaced as the cover is new for old replacement....

dont know what to do - any suggestions please?

thanks

They'll probably have made a note of it me thinks, would have been best not to say anything and just renew it. Oh well you live and learn!

I think they'd probably have made a note of it. IMHO insurance for your washing machine is unnecessary - you'd be better putting the money you'd pay on the premium into a savings account, and then you've got the money there if it goes wrong. (and if it doesn't go wrong, you've got some savings! ;) ) If you're renting a machine, then presumably the company will cover it if it goes wrong anyway?

£4 a week = £208 a year or £624 over 3 years. Go to John Lewis and get one of their own brand washing machines for £299, you get a 3 year guarentee and you will own the washing machine.

i didnt mention after a year you get the option to change it/return it or buy it for £90 - i have had it fitted and it is sure luxury to have a washer back finally - hate handwashing lol......i dont know if these are the terms for everyone or just for family (well - kind of family lol)....just found out the guy who does the machines (sister in laws hubby's brother in law) in actually a songwriter and this is just a sideline - he has actually got a record at number 2 in the charts at the moment - not checked it out yet......small world eh?
