funny Natwest story - had to share...

Options
Hi all,

thought I'd tell you our little Natwest story.
I was to be added to OH's accounts as we 'merged' our finances.
  • It took 3 months to get me added and my cards to arrive (various Natwest errors)
  • Once cards arrived, we awaited the pin numbers
  • re-ordered pin numbers - they sent cheque books
  • sent cheque books back and cancelled as they were sent in error - they CHARGED us for cancelling the cheque books
  • we called back, re-ordered pin numbers again and got the charges reversed.
  • they sent us new cheque books again - we kept them to cut back on hassle
  • we called again and re-ordered pin numbers a further 3 times
  • we moved house and called to change address - which we were told was completed
  • called a week later to chase pin numbers - old address still showing
  • finally managed to get to a branch and sort it all out - very friendly woman helped us and was great - we left happy, but called on the telephone 5 mins later to say she had forgotten to get us to sign some forms
  • requested that the complaints department call us so we could log a complaint
  • they called us at 8.15am  (bit early if you ask me!)
  • OH spoke to them just now and mentioned that First Direct was offering us £100 to move - could Natwest give us £100 as a sorry and to keep us? - NO... but we can send you some FLOWERS to say sorry. !!!!!!????
  • Natwest can only send us flowers, during the week, we work - they will get stolen or sit on the doorstep ALL day telling everyone that we are out......
*SIGH*! :D

Join First Direct - they're fab and you can speak to friendly folks in the UK 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Far better than Natwest who don't deserve your business.

A few years ago I had a cheque-book go missing in the post. Reported it missing and asked the NatWest to put a stop on all the cheques. I also informed them that I was due a new guarantee card within a week, so to hold it at my branch and I would collect it in person. Yep, you guessed it, and the same person who'd nicked the chequebook then spent £1100 of my money when they took delivery of my blank card. Unfortunately, the NatWest didn't tell me there was a problem until the day before I was leaving the country for a week. Got told to go to the police and report it, did that and got sent back by the police for not bringing any proof of fraud - I'd asked the bank specifically if I needed to take anything like that and they said no. Then they charged me fees and interest for having an unauthorised overdraft. I went in to the branch during a busy lunchtime and stood in the lobby loudly announcing their gross incompetence to every other customer in the room - very satisfying!

I had a similar story with Abbey (Santander) credit card. I was moving and advised of new details, it took them 6 months to change it, sent statements to old address, got charged for not paying the credit card, was threatened by their staff. When I was tired of all this hassle I tried to close the card, guess what? It took Abbey nearly 11 months to action the closure. I am now steering clear of anything to do with Abbey.
As a part of my battle with them, I wrote 5 letters and made 10 phone calls to close that account. They were very sorry and gave me £100.
  • Yet amazingly the banks never seem to !!!! up when doing a BT to them or when you take out an insurance with them............

I added my OH to my Natwest account - had the account for at least 10 years before I added him - then they had the cheek to ring up and ask for him to respond to a customer satisfaction, they refused to deal with me. He thought it was hilarious - I was incredibly miffed and annoyed at the blatant discrimination.

I got the last laugh though - when our finances hit the skids - it was him they constantly rang wanting repayment!
