PLEASE HELP, bank charginf me 300 pounds in 1 month, what can i do if i have no money

Hi, Im only 20 years old, I have a 13 month old daughter and am struggling. I am not working as I am looking after my daughter full time.My bank have charged me £300 in charges for returned items on my account, These were only returned because the bank had charged me £150 the month before. As i said I have no income, the only benefits I recieve are child benefit. There is no way I can pay this money. I have asked them for help and they are not helping me, im struggling to provide for my daughter and have even gone a week living on bread and ham. Can my bank really demand this money when they see that I dont have it? Can someone please offer me advice?
Thanks

The first thing to do is to open a basic bank account somewhere else and get your benefits redirect to the new account. At least you will have money to live off then.

I can't really comment on the bank charges but I'm sure someone will be along in a min who will know what you should do.
    :p
  • I am in a similar boat.I carancelled all my dds and they still bounced them.
I have now got a pre paid card which is excellant for paying bills and I no longer use my account.

You must apply for your charges back and send a financial statement to prove you are in hardship. They will consider your case.

Cancel any dds or standing orders or you will get deeper in trouble.

    Good luck.

They should not put any charges on your account as you are overdrawn.

I got in similar situation - I opened up a free basic bank account elsewhere and got my wages paid into it - the company I was working for paid me cash until it was done.

I then cancelled or moved my d/d's and stopped the old account - it was paid off at £5 a month......
Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!

ifthey have charged you more than £12 for any action, you can reclaim the charges and because you are in financial difficulties, your case would not be halted.

However what you must do is set a up a new basic bank account.

You must have more income than this. Do you have a partner? Whre do you live and who pays for the roof oover your head. Please look at www.entitledto.com

They simply are not interested. Please contact one of these debt charities who can help you http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/debt-help-plan#help
