Good jobs to train for?

I am a stay at home mum of 2 and although it has been a personal sacrifice, I have loved it.
In the next two years both my children will be at school so nows the time I need to start thinking about what I can do.
I would love to get advice/ideas on jobs that give a decent wage and work within school hours (within reason).
I am happy to train, and would love to find a good job that gives flexible hours - any ideas?

Okay, well, I've been in this position too! In my experience, you need to work out how many more years you will need to be home after school and in the school holidays for the children (it may be unlikely that you could earn a huge salary straight away to make it worth while paying for childcare). I had 3 little boys - all with about two years between them so it was a long drawn out return to work for me! They are 26, 23 and 20 years old now! (and all still at home).
If you are still going to do all the care for your children, then you may need to target a school/college job. This could be anything from Teaching Assistant, Higher Level Teaching Assistant or teacher. TAs earn rubbish money - about £9000 a year when it's all pro-rata'd out. HLTAs earn around £21000 pro rata - ends up about £16000 and teachers start around £21000, I think - I'm a bit out of touch now. If you fancy an academic career then it can be done - DH and I both went back to uni full-time when ours were 5, 7 and 9 years old. He is now an IT manager in the uni we went to and I'm an English teacher in the learning Support dept of a further ed college (but not full-time so very little money and no paid holidays!:().
Other jobs to consider may be in computing - but to earn any decent salary you need a degree and then to specialise - I'm talking about education and IT because most of our family and extended family seem to be in those lines of work!
In the end you may decide to just go with an interest/hobby and get some further training in that - e.g. Art, horticulture, decorating etc.
Remember that most jobs (and not just admin jobs) require quite high levels of computer literacy - good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite at least - well, I hope that may be of some help-
Good Luck with whatever you do!0 -

As you have internet access, you could look at internet marketing. There is some free training available on line if you look. I had a go at www.thirtydaychallenge.com but couldn't keep up the enthusiasm to make a go of it.
There is also network marketing, also known as multi level marketing (MLM) where for a small outlay one can start a business from home. A lot of people poopoo they idea but it can work out fine. The mind of the bigot is like the pupil of the eye; the more light you pour upon it, the more it will contract.
