How many years of debt?

Where do I begin?! Years ago I entered into an agreement with a company (can't remember who now as it has been moved on and on to various companies!) for debts to barclaycard for my husband and I. I have been making payments for years (at least 7) and know that the original debt owed to barclays was more than paid! I couldn't contact the company concerned so I cancelled the direct debits only for Thames Credit then Activ Kapital to come out of the woodwork saying we still owed thousands (nearly £7k) in interest charges. Surely this can't be allowed? They are still charging me now although I have told them I dispute their charges. I challenged them asking for credit agreements etc then they blanked me for 4 months and came back last week with a letter from 2002 showing that the late interest charges were in black and white and I was liable. I have told them that I am taking legal advice, going to Trading Standards etc, which I fully intend to. What I would like to ask is what sort of solicitor should I contact for advice? Presumably a specialist in this field? I would rather pay a solicitor than them! Thanks!!

Please as there are a number of people here who know a valid CCa from what is often sent by DCAs.
And the names of the DCas you quote those we would expect to have unenforceabledebts. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
