Fax/copier/scanner/printer/photos

My sister wants a multfunctioner which faxs, copies, scans, prints ordinary documents and photos. Does any one have any recomendations or any that aren't much use? BTW she doesn't want to spend a fortune on it.

Of course its cartridges have to be as cheap as possible, any one got any suggestions?

I bought a Canon Pixma MP780 for my site office, does all the required jobs plus has a document feeder and can print onto printable CDs/DVDs. The machine cost £259.

It has a four cartridge printing system, comprising Black(T), Black(P), Cyan, Magenta & Yellow cartridges.
Black(T) is for text printing and Black(P) is a special Black pigment for Photos for enhanced output quality.

Will also do colour faxes, but the receipient / sender also requires to have a colour capable fax machine.
TBH that function is of no real use at the moment and there is no auto-switching.

Original Canon cartridges are in the region of £8 each for the photo cartridges and £10 for the Larger Text cartridge.
But as an example, the larger Black(T) cartridge was £4.99 for a Tesco equivalent replacement.
This Text cartridge is 'claimed' to last 1500 to 2000 pages of average printing.

You would also need a USB A-B cable for PC connection (about £5).

HP 7210 is the only all in one that HP does which scans, prints, copies, prints digital photos and faxes. She likes the look of it but the cheapest that I can find online is £180 odd delivered. Can anyone find it cheaper elsewhere?

OR has anyone else any recommendations? Does anyone have the HP 7210, if so what do you think of it?
