    I take it from the phrase 'spare fridge' you have two? Turn one off as a fridge uses a noticable amount of electricity and will cost money. Mine costs £20 a year to run.

    Hi John
    Just to add my congrats.

    You're doing what I'm meant to be doing, with minimal success (ie I have no willpower, and I know it - this isn't an excuse just admitting it) so far.

    Please keep posting as you are proving that it can be done.
    thanks

    total debt as at 02/02/06 = 18944

    2006 target = finally get my share of money from divorce, pay off cards
    rest of year = use remaining money to build up house deposit
    2007 = buy a house

    I did it - am now safely in house with my boyfriend. We're sorting out our joint finances and getting organised. GOOD LUCK to all those on the board. You can get there.

    The good thing about your post is that as you have found out,using cash and no credit makes you think about everything you spend,this can only be a good thing,even if a times it seems really hard,keep it up ;)

    I agree Tango, have been doing the same thing now for 6 months and it really does make you think about whether you really need something or just want it when you have to hand over actual cash!

    Well done John! :j

    i havent had credit now for 2 years, since going on the dmp, mine has finished now, hubbys still going.
    i wouldnt have credit again even if they held a gun to my head.
    what was interesting was watchdog the other night. salesman dont like you paying in cash as they get commision on credit agreements and insurance sales.
    so whenever you think you want to use credit instead of cash think of the greedy salesman working out his wage packet at the end of the week.
  • Way to go John, keep plugging away, your certainly making me think about my spending!!:T
