question about a 2 on my credit report

I have a default '2' on my credit report. It is with my mortgage company (Abbey) I paid £180 in Dec 08 of the £355due.The outstanding amount (£175) remained outstanding in January, £40 was paid off the arrears in Feb and the amount was settled at the beginning of March. Mortgage Payments for Jan, Feb & March were made on time. I have requested that Abbey alter the default to a '1' as i only defaulted on 1 payment, is this correct? Some staff at Abbey I have spoken to seem to think it should not even be a default as the interest portion was paid. Any information you could supply would be greatly appreciated.
