thanks confused 31, and to the previous posters, i will not be doing anything fraudulent i will be requesting money for the reasons i needed it.

It didnt sound like you was, a lot of people say not to mew, but if you have enough equity i can not see a problem, a lot of people dont like people who use mew, but i think most of them people are the ones who have no equity in there homes.

I think a lot of people blame the mewing for people losing their homes, and why the current lending is so strict, but i suspect those people have mewed up to their eye balls.

I had a additional 10,000 pound when i took out my last mortgage, and i can not even remember if they asked what is was for, it was to pay for a holiday and clear my credit cards.

I think a lot of people have opinions of why people can get a mortgage, but if they have a good deposit or equity in their property, they should be able to secure a mortgage, banks are not silly they will only lend to people now who can pay them back.

As far as I am aware, Helifax are OK with all of those. Best to tell them what it is really for, because if you say it is for home improvements and it isn't they might want to see quotes

don't think the bank/building society really care what the money is for if
    1. you have equity in your home
and 2. can make the repayments.
they just want your money at the end of the day

we borrowed £20K for our wedding and honeymoon with nationwide. Told them what it was for but they didnt ask for any receipts etc. Had the money within one week.

I tell you what looking at some of the mortgage deals we are tempted ourselves, we could do with a porch, driveway, windows and patio. It doesnt look like we are moving, so we might as well make the most of where we are.

i think i may have to get a few quotes in.
