First Direct mortgage / valuation (Scottish market)

Can anyone advise what the best and fastest way to purchase with FD.

We have the agreement in principal and have seen a property, my solicitors wants to put in an offer subject to survey and get things rolling as the sellers might be keen to move sooner rather than later.

There is no Home report / valuation available as its been on the market a while.

Spoke to FD and they need their own valuation, is this the case for sure?

Why would they need to do their own, as guessing they probably use on of the companies that is on the panel so to speak so they should all be taken as gopsel...or as gospel as can be when valuating minus a crystal ball!

If anyone has any advice or experience of this your input would be appreciated.

    Hi
We purchased in Scotland with FD and they valued the property very quickly and they paid for it themselves.
I guess they just need to assure themselves that all is above board

    Good luck

That's the issue, my solicitors experience of lenders who insist on this are often slow, FD said to me it would take about 10 days! That's after you have sent them the form via snail mail.

As far as I'm aware they do not have their own survey squad and the person carrying out the valuation would be one from the approved panel which all other lenders would take as bona fide and acceptable without the need to do any appointing themsevles
