Feeling miserable

:( Hi all

This is my first post, I am a debt-free wanna-be and need some help to keep me sane

I have created a spreadsheet to document where all my money is going every day / month as although Im always in the green, I never have money to save or spare

The hard part is i dont buy clothes, shoes (cant remember the last time i did), i hardly ever go out, and when i do i buy the cheapest thing on the menu and then feel guilty.

My OH is helping with my overdraft as the bank rejected being able ti turn it into a loan so he has paid it off and Im paying him back monthly.

This is a breakdown

Income £1250

Rent £540
Transport £116 (tube)
Loan £50
Overdraft to OH £120
Mobile and broadband £60
Council tax and Bills £100
Food £120 apprx
Total of £1056

Which leaves me with £194 without savings and anything additional i may need to buy.

It is so frustrating to say no to my friends to going out and sit at home feeling miserable that i cant afford to.

:(

    You're amongst friends

    Can you reduce the mobile/broadband?
How long is left to repay OH and loan? Once those are done you'll have money to go out without feeling guilty.
I hate reducing my 'entertainment' budget but am trying to in order to get things under control, with the view that I'll be loads better off longer term.

The freebies board may help too.

I dont know what industry you're in but I used to go to loads of networking events where we often had food, drink and a talk for free. Was a good way to get out for nothing and see people.

    Hey Kcgc

Welcome to the boards! You're definitely in the right place for loads of help and good advice. As the other guys have mentioned, the first place to start is with your SOA as often just seeing everything in black and white can help you figure out where you might be able to save, and helps us see whether we can make any useful suggestions!

I know how you feel about not being able to go out with your friends. I'm on a very strict budget of one night out a week at the moment which sounds OK but I live in London and have lots of gf's who go out every other night so I worry about missing things! One suggestion I have is maybe get them round your house or suggest going to one of theirs for wine and snacks and gossip - at least that way you're in the loop with them without spending a fortune.

Keep posting to let us know how you're doing.

    Good luck! x

    HI guys

Thanks so much for your help, I know im in the right place.

I filled out the link but wasnt sure how to re-attach it so you could view it.

My mobile and broadband have 6 months to go so cant cancel it yet.

I will be paying my OH £120 for 13 months - so not so bad, but seems a long time before I can spoil myself.

I am a receptionist, so not brilliant salary at all - def going to look at freebies board

    Thanks for help x

You should be able to click an icon for MSE at the bottom of the SOA form to format it for use in these forums xx
