I have some particularly exciting news, and I know you folks will appreciate it...
I have just been approved for an allotment at work!!!!! :j_party_ :money:   :rotfl::T :easter_ba
I am soooooo excited. I imagine I am a bit late for a lot of planting now, but I will certainly try (fortunately I have this weekend off, so can get started on it)
So what can I plant people? We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
Yeah! Well done, Blairweech and it isn't too late for planting stuff. There's still time to get most things in, according to my seed packets and the likes of lettuce seeds can be planted year round. I'd start by making a list of what you eat most and then gear your growing towards supporting your eating habits throughout the coming year.
I'm really glad there are so many of us can get excited about gardening when it's edibles on a budget. Beats flowers and velvet lawns anyday, IMHO.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

a squirt of Stardrops and away you go, Nyk
That'll be the 37p budget started, and the decorating prepped ... ooh, and you could always buy yourself a new pencil and a rubber, maybe, to plan it all out with!
There - who says 37p can't do anythingIf you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!0 -

Despite what you may have been told about babies and gooseberry bushes, no, you can't actually plant people!:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
How exciting Blairweech!
I think I might have to stop 'officially' doing the challengeI just cant keep up with logging all the spends (altho there isnt very many) I am going to carry on doing it in my own little way, but please can I carry on lurking and contributing every now and again?;)
Hope everyones okay x0 -
Yeah for Blairweech :T
Soooooo pleased for youCheryl0 -
Blairweech - well done on getting your lottie :j:j:j as Nyk said it isn't too late to get planting stuff for this year, lots of things can still be sown from seed yet and if there is any sowing times you have missed you my be able to pick up some seedlings already started off. Salad crops can be sown all summer, time for beans, peas, etc - stick in some late crop spuds, plenty of time for lots of stuff yet. Good luck !! Really chuffed for you !!0

Good for you Blairweech,
I think that it's not too late to get potatoes in up at the allotment, not earlies, but second potatoes. I think last time I done them, it was around the end of may when I planted them in.
Also, things like courgettes might not be too late and salad foods will be fine.
If you buy tomato plants just now and feed them, you'll get tomatoes this year too.;)
I am sad that I didn't get time for doing veg this year, but I'll do it again next year.
I was chopping a pepper up tonight and it had loads of seeds in it, which I was tempted to keep. I'm not sure how to dry them out though, does anyone know what to do with them, do you just put them in a bag and put into a dark place? I guess you could do the same with tomatoes, saves you buying the seeds.:D
I survived my trip to Middlesborough today, my arm was just a bit itchy, maybe as it was a warm and sunny day down there, but it got rainy when I got back home. Asked DH to look out for my washing.............he didn't do a good job and it is back in the washing machine tonight.
Will check in later. xx0 -
Welcome back sophiesmum,

After 4 no spend days went to local diy store today to buy rails to fit in alcoves for clothes and some paint for some shabby bookshelves so they look nice in their new home (our sittingroom): sage green so they melt into the walls of the same colour.
Great news blairwichI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0
