Panasonic TZ7 or FX550 digital camera?

Hi

I cant decide which would be best:

Panasonic TZ7 or FX550

I want AF/Face detection/Auto tracking and image stabiliser. Both offer this but they are slightly different

TZ7 - 10mp, 12x zoom but bigger camera
FX550 - 12mp, 5x zoom but thinner camera with on screen menus

I like the look of both, price difference not much so that isnt the deciding factor. The problem is there are no reviews on either as they are both new in the panny range.

Mainly want for pics of the kids (hence auto tracking/face detection,image stabilser) but like close up, photos of animals (thought the zoom would be good)

Don't think the TZ7 is in the shops yet - I asked at the airport duty-free last week and they said they'd get them in a couple of weeks. All the TZ range have had good reviews - in fact, most of the Panasonic cameras get good reviews. Best to wait till the expert reviews come out - www.dpreview.com are usually one of the first and their user forums are useful too.

Argos were selling off the TZ5 at a good price recently. This is the link -

but it's out of stock for home delivery and you'll be lucky if a store near you has one.

Did you get a camera? Just came through Stansted yesterday and the Dixons Duty-free has the TZ7 in stock now at £304. Looks a great little camera but think I'll wait a while till the price comes down.

I bought a Samsung WB550. 12mp 10xzoom. Also records movies in HD. I paid around £200. Very impressed with it.

Where did you see £249? I just searched and found it for £271.45...

Sorry about that. It was priced at £249 yesterday. Price must have been put up today. The cheapest that I can find now is £259 icl p&p from www.fotosense.co.uk

If anyone finds it any cheaper please let me know.

We are also looking at the underwater housing for the TZ7 and the cheapest I have found is £179 incl p&p from 7day shop.
