Plasma or LCD for a Conservatory?

37 LCD tv needed for good home Help,

I have been told that a plasma is better for a conservatory than a LCD because of the amount of light that you have in there? Is this the case?

I am trying to find a 37 inch TV for under £400 or just a little bit over

Only requirements

1080p, freeview and a contrast ratio of more than 20,000:1

Has any one seen any about?

Cheers in advance:beer:

I think you're going to seriously struggle to find a 1080p, 20000:1, 37" TV for less than £400.

I did a quick search on comparetvprices .co.uk for a few options (sorry, this forum won't let me post direct links):

    LG 37LG3000 (720p, 15000:1) - £425
    Toshiba 37AV555DB (720p, 18000:1) - £409
    Sony 37V4000 (720p, 22000:1) - £429.99
    Samsung LE37A557 (1080p, 15000:1) - £458.99
    Toshiba 37XV555DB (1080p, 18000:1) - £459.99

The cheapest 1080p, 20000:1 I could find is
    Sharp LC37D65E (1080p, 20000:1) - £488.99

They are all LCD's; there's a lot more choice of deals for LCD than Plasma. From what I've read, LCDs are often better for sunny rooms than Plasmas (less glare).

    From consumerreports .org:

"You have a very bright room. LCDs are generally brighter than plasma TVs, and their screens are less reflective. That makes them better for daytime viewing in rooms with lots of windows or for nighttime use in rooms with bright lighting. Some plasma TVs can look a bit dim in bright lighting when set to the normal or standard mode, which we generally recommend for home use. You can switch to the vivid mode or raise the brightness control to compensate, but the picture quality might suffer. Another issue with most plasmas is that the glass screens are subject to reflections and glare. If you have the lights on while watching dark scenes, you might see mirrorlike reflections on a plasma set. "

    Hope that helps.
