What shampoo?

I am trying really hard to cut back - I don't spend heaps on beauty products and have stopped my addiction to products such as Clinque, I have pretty much swapped everything I use with the except of shampoo.
I have sensitive skin and at the moment use Neals Yard Base line products, you are supposed to be able to your own essential oils etc I don't bother so it is like buying a decent shampoo without anything added.
It is about £5.00 for a smallish bottle, you either need to buy it from London, which is a £18 tube away or online so always incur extra postage charges.
I have tried others brands, baby shampoo, that Aussie stuff, own brands, head and shoulders and nothing else compares to how well my other shampoo leaves my hair, other than of course the really expensive stuff they use at my hairdressers!
What do you guys use?

Redken do a good range. I also like Elemis products. I guess it depends on hair type aswell.0

Personally I just try to use less of the expensive shampoo that suits me rather than going down a brand. A little can go a long way.0

That's a good tip by belfastgirl23.
The thing about shampoo is that you really need to use the one which gives you the best results; if you can find a cheap one and it works well, then that's great. It sounds like you have tried lots though and possible the best route to take is by using it more sparingly.
I had a similar issue when the shampoo I used was discontinued; it was ok whilst I could source some of the remaining stock, but now that is not possible. I went through lots and lots of different ones (by asking for samples from the manufacturers) and settled on one that is mid-priced.
The way my hair looks is very important to me.*Everybody wants prosthetic foreheads on their real heads*

I used the Naked Bodycare range of shampoos and conditioners - they're available in Boots, cost £4 each and are often on BOGOF or Buy one get second at half price offers.
Been using it for 3 years and shortly after I started using it my scalp stopped itching and my hair became shiny and healthy. I have recommended it to my family and friends, and to anyone who tells me that my hair has great shine.
The products are sodium laureth sulfate free which is why I switched to using them. I did look into Neals Yard and Dr Haushka too but they were too dear for everyday use for me.Not buying clothes for a year - it's liberating!0 -
I'm a Lush girl myself. I find the solid soaps go a looooong way and are great for travelling too as they don't leak everywhere &you can use them as a body soap. They do mail order if you are nowhere near a shop. My fave is the (non solid unfortunatley) Curly Wurly one although my hair is poker straight. You only need a tiny bit as it is very concentrated and I get loads of compliments about the shine and smell. It is a pain to wash out though as it has bits of coconut in it!"I am not a vegetarian because I love animals; I am a vegetarian because I hate plants." A. Whitney Brown0

I'm a Lush fan too. The solid ones are quite expensive to buy (mine's about £4.50 I think - I can't remember the name but it's the white one that is supposed to make your hair shiny!), but they do last ages and you don't lose as much down the plughole or risk spilling it. I also find with the one I use it leaves my hair soft enough that I don't always need to use conditioner, so it saves money that way.
Having said that - and I do think they're worth a try, the Lush staff are always really helpful if you tell them you've got sensitive skin - I think everyone is entitled to certain little luxuries that they don't compromise on (mine is Hard Candy face powder!). If you're saving money on everything else you buy, I don't think you have to feel too guilty about shelling out on your favourite shampoo. You could also try checking out ebay, and other internet shopping sites now and then to see if anybody is selling a jobload off cheap.0
