Would love some advice on getting started

I spent quite a long time on the phone last week trying to get through to CCCS and National Debtline, finally got to talk to someone on Friday and she was lovely and really helpful, but needed to call Business Debtline as I'm self employed, but the guy I spoke to said he couldn't really help me as I'm pregnant. So I gave CCCS a call and they have made me an apointment to speak to their business person, but that's not until May 18th and I can't afford to pay my debts next week.

My SOA is: (pcm)

Incoming-
Profit from business £375
Child benefit/tax credits £153

Outgoing-
Electric £30
Food etc £185
Petrol £20
TV, Internet, Phone £30
Clothes and shoes £20

So that leaves me with £243 for creditors, who are:

Lloyds loan £5423
Lloyds credit card £6250
Lloyds overdraft £1200
MBNA loan £930
Capital One card £2100

Sorry, don't know the interest rates.

The 1st lady I spoke to on Friday said to open a non Lloyds bank account, I'm thinking I'll do this tomorrow, but I need to ring up the creditors and tell them they won't be getting all their money this month, what is the best approach to this? I need to set up my own DMP but don't have a clue where to start - eeek! Any help would be very gratefully received!!

Thanks for reading. x

you need to tell us the full financial details.. this is a good format
    http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html

and also tell us about your general situation ... why there is no mention of rent/mortgage,council tax, no car insurance/tax/mot etc etc

    Hi Boo

Have you tried printing off the 'Dealing with your Debts' booklet from National Debtline? (I'd give you the internet link, but don't know if you're in England/Wales or Scotland) :o It includes a budget sheet and a simple equation for offering your creditors an amount proportionate to the total amount you have available to creditors. It's really simple and easy to use.

Personally I am in a DMP with CCCS as I prefer to have them helping me rather than dealing with it myself. Under the thread 'ask a CCCS counsellor a question' there was someone else looking for urgent advice, and the CCCS counsellor said to ring up the main number and ask if there were any appointment cancellations that you could take. (It's such a long thread that I can't find it now). Might be worth a try?

Hope this helps. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. ;)

Thank you for the replies. Clapton, I've done the business and personnel budget planner from Business debtline and this is the figure I've come up with. The car is mainly used for the business so that's in there with the expenses. My partner pays the rent etc.. the bills I take care off are the ones listed, he has nothing to do with my finances and I have nothing to do with his. Mcjordi, we rent and everything is unsecured. DG, I think NDL are sending me that in the post, I'd love CCCS to set up a DMP for me but it's unlikely they will as I'm pregnant

Since you are having a baby with your partner you are inextricably linked now forever. I think you need to speak with him and try to sort something out together instead of keeping totally separate finances. You shouldn't be this worried when you are PG, and I am sure your partner would be devastated if he knew.
