Landy vs Milly

My daughter has found her dream dress, it's posted on the Landy thread, but due to the present climate can't justify spending four figures on her dress.
We've been researching Milly & Landy amongst others and they seem to have the best reviews.
We wondered why people chose the company they did and if anyone has used both were there any great differences. Did anyone get a quote from both and were they any different?
She's edging towards Milly at the moment mainly because they show pictures at each stage whereas Landy, I believe, don't and with something so important as her wedding dress she needs to be sure.
Sorry, I guess this has been done before but couldn't find it.
Thanks

I chose Landy over Milly as I think Landy was just slightly cheaper at the time and I could find more positive reviews for Landy.

I'm sure Milly is just as good though, all things considered.

I have the same dilemma milly is £60 more expensive than landy for the drees i am looking at

For doing a lot of research on the net

    - landy is cheaper than milly
    - milly is better at communication than landy
    - milly send you pics of the dress as it is being made (if you want "the perfect dress" much better)
-landy have more reviews but that could be that more people buy from them
-milly only have pics of dresses they have made on their website
    - the majority of bad reviews are from people who think a £150 dress will be exactly the same as a £1000 dress
    - it is probably going to be stressful due to the waiting etc

Personally I am leaning towards milly as they seem to be more about quality and communication, however £60 is not to be sniffed at and could fund my bridesmaid dress and petticoat.

This is a tough choice but for me the main question is, can you live with the dress if its not quite right?

I think spending 4 figures on a gown is obscene in this present climate but I guess if you can afford it.. Every little penny helps so they say for many. The wedding gown is supposed to be the 1 most extravagent dress a woman will ever purchase in her life, so it has to be right doesn't it?
I guess between the 2 companies the fabrics are going to be the same. I was walking past a shop in town yesterday and stopped to look at a taffeta bridesmaid gown. It wasn't anything like I have sitting on my shelf at home for the current project I am working on and I paid under a fiver for it. It is excellent quality. Now I'm not saying that theirs is bad, just the quality is different but for someone who doesn't deal with fabrics, you wouldn't know the difference. (god, that sosunds patronizing and it's not meant to be at all) I guess what I'm saying is if she is going to feel a million dollars in it, does it matter how much has been paid?
I've heard a lot of ladies use Landy and many have used Milly. Someone has just suggested Island Elegance on another thread but I've never heard of them. Doesn't mean they are rubbish.
I think it will have to be personal choice and go with the gut instinct. For as many good reviews you see, you'll find bad, just like all walks of life, but will you allow that 1 bad review to swing you? It may not be down to the company, it may be the customer!!
Maybe write a list of everything you want for the wedding with an ideal price column and a realistic column. Set the budget and if you save on one thing, you can shift that saving onto something else so enabling you to spend a little more elsewhere.
Good luck with your search Salad.
PS. Was this response relevant to your question?? lol xx
