  • Hi

Thank you for the quick response. It failed for three times now for the very same update over the past 14 days.

Is it a dell computer by chance?

  • Hi

No, it is not, it is Toshiba T5800, 4G RAM, 250G HD.

I am trying this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946414 and I will reboot now to see what happens.

  • Hi

Thank you for your responses and those who read and wished me a good luck.

After trying the link in the previous post, it seems to be ok and the problem is gone. Appearently, it was a generic or non-specific error code that used to happen with vista, especially if you have got 4G RAM, according to one of the links on google.

Anyway, the computer is sorted now.

    Many thanks
