all in one printer

Can anyone recommend an all in one printer/scanner/photo printer please? I am in the process of ordering a new Dell desktop for a friend and she wants a printer, but I have heard that the cartridges for the Dell are very expensive.

I have recently bought a Lexmark 7110 all-in-one. It's one of the few that include a fax machine (if you need that too). Best bit was the price - £79.99 plus VAT at Makro. Best online price I could find was around £160.

Normally I would stay clear of Lexmark because their ink tends to be expensive, but after 3 weeks with this it seems to use ink quite liberally - and they can be refilled. Quality seems good and the copy and scan features are extremely good for something in this price range.

I originally bought it purely on the basis that it had a fax, and I figured a stand-alone fax machine would cost me around the same anyway. But having used it as a printer on my network for normal everyday use, I'd recommend it.

Other than that, check out anything by Epson or HP - both tend to be pretty good at all-in-ones.
  • A friend has just got Lexmark all-in-one at Argos £55 - compare with Aldi £59 - RP £160.

And I am very impressed with it - all the bells and whistles - Colour LCD, Card reader, etc. Seems good value for money. You can use it independentally from the computer for printing photos and copying! Can't be bad and it appears ro be decent build quality.

    Cheap as Chips!
  • I use an Epson CX6600, I've had it 18 months and it's brilliant!! Easy to find cheap ink for aswell, i pay £1 each at local computer shop!! Ordered one for a mate last week and was only £100 delivered, i paid £140 and thought that was cheap!! Look on Froogle for cheapest prices.

if you look on the grabbit board someone recommended the brother all in one printer at pc world £49.99. I bought one of these on monday and am very pleased with it. Also replacement ink is cheap as well.

I agree with the brother idea. The ink is a lot cheaper than the lexmark.

    Hi,

I have the same printer, I've just purchased some from one of the online stores as recommended on one of the other boards, the blue and black cartridges work fine but the yellow and red ones wont print  have I just been unlucky or is there particular ones I should have got ? the number matches those on my original cartridges but these are the first copy ones I've bought.

I agree though the printer is brilliant :)
  • Hi Johlee. The ones i use are Phoenix and haven't had any problems. Did buy one brand that were rubbish and had to keep running Head Cleaning Facility all the time, threw them away in the end!! I get mine from;http://www.iconuk.co.uk/ but don't have to pay postage because i live local!!
