had you thought there mortgage maybe intrest only and so at the end of it they may have to find money. where as it sounds like you have a repayment mortgage and will be sure to pay off completely.i often get pee'd off with my family as a family member is perceived to have really done well for them self but is in debt up to their eyeballs acheiving this gloss where as i prefer the matt look and its cheaper cost.

dont let yourself get jealous or angry mate...

i used to feel like that earlier this year. bought a new build townhouse 15 month ago, all the neighbours have 3 storey townhouses, mine is 2 storey 2 bedrooms, the crappest on the development. all the neighbours rushed out and decked their gardens, summerhouse type things and had awesome TVs on their living room walls...

my garden is still a mix of crappy grass from seed, dog muck, and builders rubble... my TV is 3 years old etc... the neighbours probably called us the dingles etc like off emmerdale....

BUT... 6 of 9 houses in our 'square' have been repossessed, and one other, next door, has baillifs banging on the door on a daily basis.

we will achieve what we want to one day mate, stay positive, he may brag his mortgage is 58 quid, but people rarely tell you their problems.

The same position that a mate of mine is in. His mortgage is tiny and interest only. He is going to get a BIG bill at some point because the capital is not covered. But he won't bloody listen...
  • And please don't stop posting on account of anything I may have said. It is very hard to get a 'read' just from posts online because simply you cannot see that person in front of you, cannot read their expressions. Essentially, the internet is truly no substitute for physical communication. Yes, it has positives but it is not nor can ever be a replacement for that.

I would prefer that people did talk about their feelings more often. And it is also a shame that people do not talk more about their feelings in life to others because unless you do no one can hear your lifestory, and listen. In life I am a very passionate person, who likes to encourage people through lifes struggles. To tell those untold stories of everyday people. So, please do not stop posting. Obviously, you will get a mixture of responses and no one is the same.
I do agree that everyone gets jealous of others from time to time...

I agree with that entirely but not for the same reasons as intended/in context. I don't need to be jealous of anyone because I have far more precious things in my life to be concerned with and worry over. Just being alive being one. Being in debt also teaches you to value things more. But I always did before then, anyway.

I prefer to hear people's life stories because who knows, it may even inspire me to go off and write a book about it. Not for myself, but so others see what struggles people go through in life. Because I never do anything for myself, only for others. So, don't stop posting.
Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

Why would you thinki he was braggin and that he will 'have other problems'. My friends tell me about new jobs, new ventures, low mortgages and i'm happy for them. They're my friends!

He's only got that sized mortgage at the moment because he is obviously paying interest only on a tracker. He will still owe the same money at the end of the term of the mortgage and you want to hope that what he's saving now on payments he's putting elsewhere so that he can pay off the loan.

When i first had a tracker I got a lot of 'oh you don't wanna do that, you wanna have a fixed rate'. It swings in roundabouts this home owning business. When interest rates go up again he might find he struggles if he's finding other luxury stuff to do with his cash at the moment.
