We have recently won our endowment claim as Legal & General were unable to prove that we were given an option of a repayment mortgage. It was for them to prove that I was given information, not for me to prove that I was not.
The extras you have to make sure you get as well as a cheque. We got £2K+.
As we have cashed in our policy we needed to buy life insurance for the balance of the mortgage. They have had to quote me an insured figure now in 2006 but based on our ages/health and prices in 1988 not 2006.
It has taken them 6 months to sort my claim. They have paid back to me 6 months of endowment premiums.
There cheque was a week over their 28 day turn round period from me accepting there offer. They have had to pay me interest on the offer sum, of £50 a week.
We did not use a 'no win/no fee' office. We did it ourselves and it cost and couple of hours of time and a stamp.
Good luck to those venturing,
