GB is desperate to be seen as a real player, rather than the psycopathic loon that TB kept in check for a number of years. Flying all round the world for a succession of photo ops that just show how he and his wife don't quite have the Obama look to them.0

I'm offsetting my frustration at the cost of his jetting off with my sheer joy at the fact Crash is getting economic lessons from the Latin Americans.

I bet ole Gordon has blue eyes as well'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
you forget that he is trying to save the world.0

My own belief is that Gordon Brown knows that the cost of sorting out this mess will be a lot less if he's able to convince other nations to stimulate their own economies at the same time. Stimulating the British economy in isolation will bring only short-term benefits and will cost a lot more in the longer-term.
Personally, I don't really think he's fully thought this through. Gordon's likely betting that the recession will be a short but deep one, whereas many economists and so-called experts are betting that the downturn will last for a period of several years, and in some cases the majority of the next decade.
Gordon and Alastair keep reiterating that they must do whatever they can because to do nothing would be far more damaging. However, I believe that one of the biggest concerns which most people have is that it's our money and the money of future generations that's being used to bail out the banks - the very same banks who then refuse to lend it back to us in the form of small business loans & mortgages. Many people will likely feel very angry when their business goes under because of short-term funding issues and then when they do start earning, their National Insurance contributions have increased to help pay for it!!Mortgage Feb 2001 - £129,000

This is taken from another thread but it is relevant here. If you think Gordon's financial stimulus idea is good then take a look at this:
