How long to get an amended offer?

Hi everyone,
We have just managed to re-negotiate a price on a house, and I now need a new mortgage offer for a reduced figure. Unfortunatly our mortgage is with the abbey who I am told have horrific service issues at the moment - it took us 3 weeks to get this initital offfer! Would anyone happen to know how easy it is to get a revised offer? I am assuming there will be no issues as our circumstances are the same - we just want to borrow less!
Any advise much appreciated!
