@Rikki and Urg, that sound nice, especially with the stories, I recently made my sister a book when she turned 18 called 'what I wish I knew at 18'. I put some everyday recipes in there, but it would be nice to have a bigger for my kids (if I ever have them!)

No1 son is at university and doesn't have any scales. I've been telling him how to make pastry and yorkshires etc all by texture, look and feel. He's not doing too bad.
He google a recipe for muffins but they were a bit of a disaster but hey ho you have to learn by your mistakes and good for him for giving it a go.

A recipe for a meal would be good - a main with some accompaniments :) I've had rice and peas before and it was lovely, but they weren't peas - I think they were beans? I'd love to know how to make that. And what do you eat with Ackee?
