Beg to differ.
Look in the JSA guide on Availibility rules and caring responsibilities.
As soon as someone states they have caring responsibility that restricts their availibility (could be for a relative or anybody else), but wants to claim JSA, they have to be available as per my previous posting at #20 -
ukdickie is correct-you need to be available for 16 hours a week and the hours that you are available, as he has said, need to correspond to the type of work you are looking for - as an example, if you said that you were looking for bar work from 8-11am each day they would refer this to a Decision Maker as you would be unlikely to find work that fitted this restriction. You can have no longer than a week to arrange childcare under JSA regulations-if you were to state you needed longer than this, then again the claim would be referred to a DM. If either of these decisions were to go against you, it could result in you losing all entitlement to JSA0

Hmm. I am certainly available 16 hours a week, as my role was 20 hours a week. I am not trying to avoid looking for work as I do want a job. I was an office manager and I am hoping for the same sort of role, is it too much for your career aspiration to be the same as your last job ? Surely there are lots of part time jobs out there (somewhere) so I dont think I am being unreasonable. My daughter is no longer able to go to nursery (long story) and to be honest the thought of shoving her in with a childminder I dont know makes me feel quite sick, my daughter does not settle well and was doing well at nursery, which is why I was so gutted when we had to leave. Surely lots of mums are looking for part time work to fit in with school hours so I am not a special case ? And I am sorry but I dont want to work at night, I never have worked at night and I dont want to.
I am not trying to be awkward I just want to find a job like my old one and have a bit of support whilst doing it, whats wrong with that ? I have worked since leaving school its not like I am some lazy ar*e who has been signing on their whole life and getting away with it

I don't think anyone disagrees with your reasons and job goals.
What we are posting are the JSA rules.
Knowing them can save a great deal of frustration if things go wrong.
Best wishes.0
