£30 Asda online shopping ?

Could anybody help me with my asda online shop ? If you have a spare 5 mins ? -
There are 2 adults & 1 cat in the household. We don't eat curries or anything at all fancy, just plain meat and 2 veg type meals. I have a remoska & a crockpot. We eat porridge for breakfast & HM bread &soup for most lunches. Use a LOT of milk & tea.
I need the weekly asda online shop to come to under £30 if at all possible, ex. delivery. Can anybody give me suggestions ? I find it really hard and when it is in budget then its dead cheap rubbish and I don't enjoy eating it.

might be easier to maybe try say £50 for 2 weeks or £60 for 2 week's.
i find it much easier when on a tight budget doing a 2 weekly shop.
make a meal planner of meals you like . i often find if i need to keep budget down i will do a cheap meal like homemade chip and egg. or make a big pizza and left overs hubby has in lunch boxes. Sorry i can't think of many meals at mo as brain in a bit of a tizz.0 -
i shop 3 weekly for 4 for us - just come in at £57 but 10 of that is stuff for cakes I'm making for someone else...I spent £20 at the butchers for the 3 weeks too as asda meat is bland. I'll also spend £10 on fruit and veg a week.
Meal plan, alternating something cheaper with something you will enjoy more, buy seasonally and find alterantives to the s'market were possPeople seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Ok ty both
.. I will go back into asda site and try a fortnight's worth, see if thats easier .
Rach, I don't have alternatives - it has to be asda or tesco online.

What milk do you use in your tea? I buy UHT skimmed as it's the cheapest I can get as opposed to "fresh".
Got an idea of meal plans at all?I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

I would go for bulking out meat like minced beef, carrot, tinned toms, lentils or porridge, 1 pint water can stretch to make base for bolognaise, cottage pie , chilli etc. And stretching chicken, roast then some for soup or with salad. Jacket pots(just buy normal bag of spuds and use them), with something like cottage cheese could use that for 2 meals. Meat from the butchers isn't expensive I paid £2-60 for 1lb diced pork and it made a nice casserole. It would do 2 people for 2 meals and could freeze left overs in portions. I also prepare and freeze plate pies which are filling and easy to make. HTH's. Good luckGrocery challenge june £300/ £211-50.

If you price up the shopping on mysupermarket.co.uk rather than the asda site it will do 3 things to help keep your prices down
1. It will check the shopping against asda, tesco, odaco and sainsburys and let you know which is cheapest. It can be a bit flakey with the differing own brand products though so you may be best to check manually.
2. It will also suggest alternative products that are cheaper or a better deal (eg multibuys) through it's swap and save system
3. Also in the swap and save it will do Martin Lewis' Downshift Challenge and suggest appropriate alternative products from the more value ranges (eg if you order a branded item it will suggest the supermarket's own or even the supermarket's value item as an alternative).
If you register for ipoints you will also receive points for every shop as well as some bonus points for your first shop. Points can be redeemed for rewards or even vouchers for Asda/Sainsburys and much more0 -
Hi, We are 2 adults & 2 small cats in our household & our weekly shop (ASDA online) comes in around your target. Sometimes I struggle to hit the £25 min order value, other weeks it comes in around £32. Some of our more economical main meals include HM sausage burgers ( only take about 10 mins to throw together & about 25 -30 mins to cook ), carbonara, struggling to think of the others, but am happy to share in more detail if you are interested? I have to tread carefully as OH is not truly on the MS bandwagon yet, & will be less enthusiastic about a meal if he knows it cost v little...

Mardartha, good luck with your pricing! A fortnightly shop can be easier, then if you buy mince and stretch it, it means that you don't end up with a week's worth of mince meals, but can spread them over the two weeks! So from a pack of mince you should be able to get a good few cottage pies, don't know if you eat, chilli, bolognese, etc? The extra can go in the freezer.
Chicken is good for stretching, roast, pie (make plate pies and it'll go even further), soup, casserole (I'm assuming curry isn't something you like?)
Sausages are good too, just a few can make a sausage casserole, and if you buy thick ones you can cook them in the moski, cut them in half length ways, making sure the cut sides are down and then pour the batter over to make toad in the hole, and nobody is any the wiser! They're also quick and easy as sausage and chips!
To make meat go further in this house I tend to whip away what's not been dished up quickly, otherwise it gets picked at!
So basically my advice is to go for meat that can be stretched into lots of different dishes, and buy plenty of veg to bulk it out.GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000
