In fact nobdy said they were going to stop washing anything, clothes, body, hair dishes or backside!
Do you really think that all of the above would be clean without the use of some soap?0 -

NO! I think, apart from their own personal clothing, NOBODY has said they weren't going to use soap on any of the above!0 -

I know that. But my original question to the Op was "are you going to stop using soap on everything?" To which you gave the example of self cleaning hair. When I asked if the same could be said of your bottom you replied that you don't see why not.
I took that to mean that you thought cleaning with water alone was sufficient. :cool:0 -

You have missed my original point, anyone can get their clothes dirty, the post I made earlier was to do with some washing products saying that you can turn the temperature as low as 15 degrees, with the temperature that low - how does it kill the microorgs in the fabric? As I said before - the fact that microorganisms have been around for millions of years isn't really relevant, its that one of the points of washing anything is to wipe out germs. soap in itself may not kill all germs - its the use of temperature aswellDon't try to teach a pig to sing - it wastes your time and annoys the pig0 -

Pardon??? You canot really say EVERYTHING is made form chemicals. What about things that grown naturally? Would you say for example that an apple or a potato is made from chemicals? Soapnuts are a natural product that grows on the planet.
EVERYTHING is made from chemicalsA potato, an apple, you and me - all made from, for example, amino acids, lipids, salts - all of which are chemicals. They may not be manufactured, but they're chemicals, none the less
You added the wiki link as an edit - the tree you refer to contains surfactants, more chemicals!

It's true - but "chemicals" is one of those words that has an everyday, commonplace meaning and a "professional" meaning, if you see what I mean - I suspect most people, when they use "chemical-free", are using it in the everyday way.0 -

Well, *some* germs. The vast majority of germs around us are completely harmless; washing really only needs to remove those that cause problems.soap in itself may not kill all germs - its the use of temperature aswell
Detergent isn't just soap though - it contains enzymes and phosphates and bleaches and various other chemicals - and in modern detergents, it's those that do the job that hot water used to. A century ago, people boil-washed nappies - now we can get the same effects by washing at much lower temperatures.0
