Gross income question re mortgage app.

Hi,

Does anyone know whether or not I can include my wife's interest earned on savings, in her gross income figure when applying for a mortgage?

SHe is self employed and her 3 years accounts have about £1000 of interest on each from the deposit to be used to buy the house.

I'd appreciate any advice

Thank you

I wouldn't have thought so, surely the lender will want to rely on the income that can be used to make the mortgage payments? If you're using the savings to provide the deposit, that income will no longer be there.
Are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
  • Since her savings will be spent on the deposit for the house they will no longer be available to help pay off the mortgage. Hence the answer to your question is a very loud no.
