Paypal troubles-help!

I sold a game online to someone, they paid me through paypal. Everything went well. Few days later, BAM chargeback and now I have a negative balance because I used it to purchase something else. My account is not verified and it's not linked to a bank account, HOWEVER I did put my credit card on it because I wanted to get the money eventually. Now i have a neg balance and I can't pull out my credit card because it says my access is limited. Will they take the money from my credit card even though I'm unverified? What can I do? If I call the CC company and tell them to switch the card number will I be ok? Thanks for the help.

whatever you do, you will still have to pay back the money into your paypal account.
I wouldn't try to avoid it as Paypal will chase you for it.

What was the reason for the chargeback? Did the buyer have good reason?

  • I didn't even see a reason anywhere, it just says unauthorized claim or something like that and nothing else. How can they let frauders get away with stuff like that so easily?...

and how would they chase me for it? If I call my CC company and report the card stolen and just let the account rot, they will still chase after me?

Why don't you contact Paypal and explain what has happened. They may be able to expain why the transaction was cancelled.

My experiences of this are that Paypal inform you that a chargeback has been actioned, freeze the cash in question and give you ten days to prove that you sent the item and that it was recieved by the recipient. If you haven't already you need to initiate a Paypal dispute, that way you stand a fair chance of getting your money back providing you can prove that the purchaser is in reciept of the goods.

  • It might be worth posting on the ebay and carboot board, the guys there have loads of experience and will be able to help you, although I suspect you will have to get in touch with paypal and ebay to appeal against the dispute
