I have fallen in love with a venue today, only its not my own
I have enquired about it, but its provisionally booked (you'd think it would be confirmed with 14 week to go!)
I really want it, prepared to lose deposit on mine for it... but can't wait forever for them to confirm as invites need to be sent out soon.
Meh, its gonna turn me into a right bridezilla!

Have you asked how long they are prepared to give the other party to confirm before offering it to someone else? Maybe if you let the venue know that you're really interested they might contact the people who have provisionally booked and push them for a 'yes or no' answer.
Hope you get it....Good Luck

I have contacted them... I rang as soon as I left (I was there for a business lunch) and said did they cater for weddings, so she said she would send all the stuff through and what date was I interested in, it was then that they said it had been provisionally booked but she would still send everything through.
After I'd seen the brochure I rang back and said that I was very very interested should the other party not confirm and they said they would see what they could do.
Going to give them til the end of this week to see what is what and then decide what to do!0 -
provisional bookings are normally held for 7 days (14 if your lucky) so maybe if you hold on you'll get it!0

Will cancelling your venue incur a cancellation fee? I believe most are pretty hefty.0

I've paid a £200 deposit so I imagine I would lose that, however, not signed a contract or anything stating any other cancellation fees... I'd happily kiss goodbye to the £200 to get the other place!0

Check in the small print of the orignal venues contract. For instance mine states that there are various percentages of the total to be paid on cancellation depending on how close to the wedding date you cancel.
I really would just double check that you are not contractually obliged to pay more on cancellation given that the actual date is so close.
Apart from checking that I wish you good luck in securing the venue of your dreams!
Finally decided to start growing up when it comes to money!:j

There was no contract... signed nothing, all we got was a receipt for the deposit payment.0
