Job Seekers' Allowance - I'm Even Worse Off Than I Thought!

Please could you share the web address / contact info as to how to contact Tony McNulty, I too have a big problem and have not recieved benefit for 3 months now, it angers me when I'm signing on the local Job centre the alcholics and junkies who are quick to boast their benefits and remarks of 'see you in the pub'. I only want the opportunity to fund for work further a-field, yet the vast majority of benefit recievers where I live have never worked a days hard work - disgusting! - not to mention that fact I've been advised to commit fraud by staff at local Job centre0

I can well understand how you feel you pay in forever and when you need it ......get nothing. I was the same was a sole trader for 5 years, and an employer, and was an employee for many years before hand.
Personally I think that benefit over and above the minimum should be 'accumulated' so that those who have been working for some years (in any capacity) should receive a higher award for, say, a year. Which is what 'earnings related benefit' was before Thatcher took it away in 1980.

Thanks.
I've just realized that I was paying not only class 2 stamps while self emp' but also class 3 voluntary stamps.
I suppose this entitles me to claim for contribution based JSA rather than Income based JSA though there's only a few difference?0 -
Hi folks
new here and in same boat having paid class 2 for 3 years and no jsa.
Well, are we taking to the streets???

Nice idea, nane - but they'd probably only tell us that we were making ourselves 'unavailable for work'. :rolleyes:I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

If I may chip in to this thread. I have just had my jsa turned down. PAYE for 11 years, self employed sub contractor for the last 15. Is my assumption from this thread that the contribution based jsa only goes back 2 tax years ?
Also I have over 16k (just) in savings so would not qualify for income based jsa ( I am single,no other income coming in ) ?
Finally debt doctor said it becomes payable after 13 weeks,if you keep signing on presumably. Does this refer to contribution based jsa ?
Many thanks if anyone can clear these points up for me.0
