Is there any proof for anyone that what you are saying about your brother stealing your identity is true?
  • I thought you were from the US because your letter says Social Security Number and not National Insurance Number.

Hope you can get this sorted it must be awful for you!

Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

thank you guys... I just realized all this stuff is 100% UK law...
    :(

I do have proof that some of it is my brothers, he has admitted it.. I have some in writing and have sent it to the creditors...
they just snub my requests and on with the dept it goes.

I've been poking around the net for some sort of US rules and regulations...
so hopefully the above link will help.

    thank you
  • I really feel for you cos ID theft is hell. I moved a few times and at the last address they got a car and registered it in my name got tickets all over and I was being hounded for someone elses crimes. Police didnt want to know either but imagine if they had killed someone in the car. Makes you wonder what else has been going on and how you can find out.

Here's another link from the site merlin mentioned. This is for "time barred" debts.

It seems from the experian website that US debts are usually retained on your credit file for 7 years. This article may be worth reading for other sources too.

I don't know of an US sites similar to moneysavingexpert, but i'm sure it would be pretty popular if there was one.

    Good luck with this Kolizion
