A&L loan settlement??

Is there a rule of thumb with settlement figures? or rather a checklist of what/when to do things?

I have a loan with A&L with 16000 left on it ( 5k is arears ) original amount 24500 i have paid last 4 payments to their debt management company.

Basically after 2 years of paying i moved to the states and i could only pay from a uk account , upshot was i didnt pay for a year, now i am back and paying.

I could well be moving back to the states and want to get shot of the loan first.

How should i go about this and what amount do you think will be acceptable to them?

  • What do you think you ought to pay having regard to all the circustances.

  • I want to pay the least amount but actually settle it rather than just leave it ( other factors being i was advised to take an IVA/DMP but have managed to avoid that and am paying everyone. I am also cross with A&L for charging me 23 quid a ltter to the wrong address ( 13 times ) they always had my email and phone number.
  • I was after advice on settlement figures, there seems to be a rather self-righteous element on here who read more into events than maybe they should. It must be wonderful to be so right all the time and be the centre of the moral compass:rolleyes:

    Hi

I dont know how much you should offer them, but I know when I was paying all my debts off about 6 years ago, most of the companies took 80% of the outstanding balance?

    So you could try that?

    Hmm, there might be?

Is it possible for you to call the company and ask them?
