My landlord has just changed his tune on letting me wait till I get paid for his rent. He's basically just told me to ask my mother for it. I'm crying now, I hate borrowing so much from my mum. I'm so wound up. I just want to give up.
When do you get paid?Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
3 weeks, couple of weeks after I start. However I did offer this morning when he was getting akward to give him half on tuesday when I got some money through. He said then to ask my mum for it, to save him coming over all the while. Not an expert, but I try and contribute and I'll always listen. Middle child of middle child parents. I drink way too much coffee.

It's a tough one, I'm sure your mum wouldn't mind helping (if she can) but I know how horrible it can be to ask. It sounds like you're being pretty reasonable with him. I've never heard of a landlord who turns up so much!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
It's just the way he completely changed his tune. He said on Wednesday, 2 days ago, that he could wait because he didn't want to leave me short. Then today he is being really mean about it.Not an expert, but I try and contribute and I'll always listen. Middle child of middle child parents. I drink way too much coffee.

Ruby - I think, basically, your landlord is a bit of a tw*t. Surely he's better off getting half the money now and half in a few weeks, than none at all?!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Yeah, I don't think he's even considered the possibility of me moving out.Not an expert, but I try and contribute and I'll always listen. Middle child of middle child parents. I drink way too much coffee.

I think the smartest thing I could do is go home still, though
I'm just digging myself further into a hole here, this new job is not going to work if I don't have the cash up front for travel. I'm not going to be able to afford the deposit and rent on a new place at the rate I am going, and I can go home and be a bit more secure and get a job down at the sea side.
It would be hard to get myself back up here, no doubt, but if I'm determined enough, I can do it. I have friends up here that would let me kip on their couch while I looked for a new job up here, as long as I had a good nest egg to last me while I looked. Not an expert, but I try and contribute and I'll always listen. ruby your landlord is really a !!!!!!!
It's totally unreasonable to keep changing his mind about rent dates like that.
On another note: You know my loony neighbour, the one that was vacuuming his drive last summer..... he's just driven down the street wearing swimming goggles!
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -

It's worth thinking about - don't rush into anything unless you have to. Maybe do a list of pros and cons for each option?Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0
