the milage is 24.5 miles to work so a total of 49miles per day 5 days a week. takes 50mins when roads are clear and 1.5 hours at peak Previously i lived 5mins from work with a max milage of 4miles a day

My contract states i must work within 35 miles of my home. It also states i should be given reasonable notice of being transfered.

when i took the job 2 years ago i was told i would only work in bradford or leeds and my contract states a store in bradford. Can a company force an employ to move to a store knowing full well doing so would cause them serious financial hardship and will lead to me not being able to attend work.

As it stands mid way through next month i will have no money and can not get to work.

I do hope you can work this dilemma out and get your employer to move you back closer to home. They certainly arent playing fair thats for sure - in enforcing a move on you that they had promised they wouldnt do.

I am wondering about the possibility of carsharing too (perhaps an advert in your local paper might yield results).

I have no idea what sick pay arrangements your employer has - I CAN only speak for what I could do with my own employer if the worst came to the worst - ie go off work on sick leave till they sacked me - then at least I wouldnt be getting into debt to do the job. BUT BUT BUT - what the possibilities - or otherwise - are in that respect are very much down to who your employer is and what your personal circumstances are and only you know the answer to that one.

Hope things work out for you.

Your empoyer is having a laugh if he thinks you can drive 24.5 miles in 'no more than 15 minutes' - that's an average speed of 98mph!

If the change in distance is so great and your contract stated bradford - I would approach them for money to support your increased costs - I am fairly sure that increased costs of getting to and from work have to be covered or relocation expenses met.

Perhaps CAB could give advice on this more in depth - but i am sure you are entitled to some help. When I worked for norwich Union and had to work temporarily in bristol (I live in exeter) they paid all travel costs, meal costs and also paid for b and b accomodation if i worked over so many hours etc...
Not really comping any more as too ill - but hoping to win £1000+ in 2017 in cash prizes - watch this space!

if i travel more then 35miles iwould be entitled to relocation costs or they would pay my costs. But the problem i have is that they new i just bought my first house and had a large mortgage to pay just when they moved me. (the mortgage could easily be afforded if i worked in bradford with money to spare)

OP you say you cant car share but have you explored all the possibilities eg is there a colleague who could give you a lift or maybe a neighbour works nearby, does your council have a car share scheme

..now pondering what your employer could or couldnt do if you no longer had a car...so had to use public transport to commute to and from work...thinking of the circuitous routes buses sometimes take maybe it could work out as more than 35 miles????

If they're anything like the long distance buses near here, they'll get you to work by 10am but you'll have to leave for home by 1pm and there's only the one round trip per day. A couple of buses only run once a week.
