wedding cheesecake

We love cheesecake!

having a meeting with the caterers tomorrow (our usher's mum, so a nice close thing) - and are thinking of asking them to do a wedding cheesecake, on tiers instead of a cake, to double up on dessert!

it would mean we'd have to cut it early, and it couldn't be on display for long, but what do you think of the idea??

we're not big cake eaters, but cheesecake is another matter entirely!!:D

    Go for it!
I love cheesecake too, i'd love that.
Just make sure you have a cake stand where the tiers wouldn't be resting on top of one another.

    I think it sounds great:D

    One "other" idea.....

Cupcakes are very fashionable now with a cake to cut.

You could even have a cheesecake & some white iced cupcakes on other tiers to get that more traditional look, just an idea:D

Sounds really yummy, and you can serve it for desert instead of the usual take-home souvenir, I can't see your guests saying no to that  .

That sounds a great idea, I luurve cheesecake. Just another idea our local cheese makers will make "cakes" out of small whole cheeses then decorate with fresh fruit to serve with them - they look very much like the real thing and could be an alternative for those who don't have a sweet tooth if serving instead of dessert.

Do you mean sweet cheesecake or truckles of cheese stacked on top of one another? If you ask for a cheesecake then it you are implying that you want savoury cheese stacked e.g. stilton, cheddar, red leicester or whatever.
  • If you mean the kind of cheesecake that i too adore (the sweet kind!) then this website:

    http://www.cheesecake.co.uk/weddings

might give you a few ideas. The cheesecakes on there look and sound really scrummy, I think its a fab idea :D

OP says 'double up on dessert' so I'm sure she means the sweet kind of cheesecake and not a cake made from blocks of cheese ;)

I think it wounds wicked - just look at the cakes on the link by sparklylime - yum YUM!!

My son wanted a 3 tier cheescake for his 18th as I have always made their birthday cakes. The only tierd piccys I could find was of the savoury kind, stilton, cheddar etc. They looked wondrful though.
Anyway, I made the 3 tiers with a mandarin on on the top. Not having a cake stand as it was only a birthday, the local cake maker suggested I pile them ontop. With the cheese being soft, I used cake dowling to support the thin cakeboards the cheese cakes were on. I decorated it with mandarin oranges, chocolate leaves and flakes then drizzled chocolate over the whole thing. Was the best think I ever tasted!!!!
  • Wow, sounds great. I love cheesecake.. but you'd need to be careful how you stack them as as it's quite heavy. Maybe the cake would need to have reinforcements inside it (our sponge cake did)
