shoe dilemma

Hi girls
Ok - a shoe dilemma! I dont do heels - I have quite a bad track record with them!! A few years ago I bought a stunning pair of lilac and jewels shoes with a significant heel for my graduation ball. But chickened out of wearing them. They are upstairs looking gorgeous in a box!
I know they are lilac but here are the pros and cons:
Pros:
1) who will see them anyway?
2) they're fab!
3) we are on a tight budget, so saving every penny counts
Cons:
1) I could barely walk when I tried on my dress in the shop in bare feet!
2) I'll worry I'll fall over
3) My feet will hurt
What would you do?? Go for a cheap pair of sensible flats? Or go with the heels....
Thanks in advance

FLATS!
Flats, flats, flats, flats, flats!
Most definately! If you cannot walk in heels do not even bother, seriously think about it, you'll be in them all day and your feet will absolutely kill whilst trying to balance..
If no one will see them primark currently have ivory shimmery and white flats for about 4 quid, bargain! So get them if no one will see.0 -
i second the primark flats thats what im wearing! h2b said no to my trainers u cant see my feet anyway i dont see the problem
i was thinking hes a fair bit taller than me so wearing small heels for the servicey bit then changing and wearing the flats the rest of the day 0 -
As for the other shoes lying in the box unworn - flog them on ebay.0

I would go for flats if you don't feel comfortable wearing heels. Its your big day and the last thing you want to be worrying about is your shoes and walking in them!!:j
Alternatively get some flats for the reception/evening do and practice walking lots in the heels! They do sound gorgeous.0 -
My sister can't walk in heels (bad back), but she's doing heels during the ceremony and photos, and then changing to flats afterwards. This is also because she's short, her husband to be is a foot taller than she is, and everyone else is a bit tallerMurphy's No More Pies Club #209

I don't "do" heels either but I have just treated myself to 2 pairs of evening shoes from next. I've never had a shoe fettish but HAD to have these. I wore them when invited out for a meal. (limited walking) But when walking from the car to the venue, I took hubbs arm and walked slowly and sophisticated (if I can manage that)
What I'm trying to say is, if you really want to wear thes lilac ones, walk around the house but slowly. You will walk up the aisle with your dad (i assume) You can always change into something flatter at the reception. But at least you'll have worn your shoes. 1 thing to consider is if they really do hurt your feet, your face will tell all. In this instance, go for the flats. x0 -
The best thing to do is practice, get some feet cushions too and wear these in your shoes, also break in your shoes by wearing them around the house. Wear with a pair of thick socks if in a hurry.
Remember head up, take short steps and place feet heel toe, heel toe. If they are very high, push out your bum and boobs, not too much though because you would look funny and sway your hips side to side, think sexy not waddling, lol!!!

For those in the know - does heel height affect the length of the dress? Ideally I'd change from heels to flats for the night but don't want my dress to get grubby at the bottom!0

It depends how high the heels are? If they are fairly high and your dress is perfect length with them on then in all honesty you may have you dress trailing on the floor when you change into flats. Most dresses do touch the floor anyway so I would expect the bottom to get slightly grubby regardless of heel height. I wouldn't worry about that but what I would worry about is if your dress is too long for you with flats on because there is a chance you may trip on the excess material.
Finally decided to start growing up when it comes to money!:j

i dont do heels either but i decided that i wanted to wear a pair on the day, i practised every day walking around the lounge in them.
i managed to wear the heels for the ceremony and photos then changed into my flat dolly style shoes, i put the heels back on for our 1st dance as my hubby is about a foot taller than me then changed back into my flats.
i dont think it matters what colour your shoes are!
