Proof Of Debt Question

I have an old outstanding CC bill from 1999, that I used to pay on a monthly repayment sceme wih a debt management agency (cant remember who) after a while they stopped dealing with the debt and it went back to the card issuer) . I've not heard about it in almost 2 years until recently when I was chased by a new DCA (I wont mention the name just in case). Now I know its not stat barred but i've played dumb and asked for more info on a debt that 'I can't remember anything about'.

My question is when they come back with details if I still deny all knowledge what further proof will they need as its my word against theirs, I want to ask for the original credit agreement, hopefully as its 10 years old it may not get found. Anyone else tried playing the waiting game and won???

The original signed agreement is the key document here. If it doesn't exist or can't be found the debt is unenforceable in court.

I contacted them via email but have not even had the grace of a reply yet, when I do get one I will ask for the original document...
