I foolishly registered mmy details on there thinking that it was a rates comparison webtie and that a rnage of possible quotes would come up- how wrong.
Around 20 missed calls/ cancelled calls later, I just had one from Gemstone something or other telling me someone has made an applicaiton for me and it has been turned down, so that's why she was phoning.
Is that legal? likely to be true? I'm in tears at the thought of why i was so stupid.
All i wanted was to compare loan rates and now my details are out ther eand i feel violated.
What can i do? I'm most concerned that it's true and someone is making loan applications for me.
someone please help
I've not even got as fa as doing my finances for here or plan or anything, I'm just so upset and worried

I would expect the flurry of phone calls to die down after a few days. But, yes, your details are now 'out there' and you should get a copy of your credit reports from Experian and Equifax to check what's on there.

I sometimes use these sort of comparison sites and always put false contact details - I only give real details if I am ready to acutually buy into something.

Put it down as a lesson learned.
